On March 11, 2011 off the Pacific Coast of Tohoku Earthquake occurred. In Miyagi Prefecture, the seismic intensity level registered at a seven on the Japanese seismic intensity scale. The earthquake triggered the greatest tsunami (tidal waves) ever recorded in Japan and caused tremendous and infinite damage.
Miyagi Prefecture has carried out various projects to record the Great East Japan Earthquake disaster for the next generation.
This website shows results of efforts by Miyagi Prefecture. It is our hope that these records of the earthquake will be utilized by many people to make solid awareness of disaster reduction and disaster countermeasures.
