Governor’s message to our friends around the world

Since the March 11, 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, we have received goodwill gestures from our friends around the world to support our recovery efforts and the people of this disaster. In addition to the supplies from individuals, companies, organizations and countries, we also received generous donations for the people and prefecture. Volunteers travelled far and wide, cooperating with our people in various fields including cleanup efforts, evacuation shelter management, and medical and daily life support.

On behalf of Miyagi Prefecture, I express my sincerest gratitude to all of you for your generous assistance and benevolence.

In honor of those who perished in this disaster, I believe it is our duty right now to rebuild a vital, safe and secure prefecture and to ensure the future generations carry on this work. It will be a long road to recovery, and while we will face challenges along the way, the prefecture will come together, hand-in-hand, to carry out the efforts with all our strength.Please continue to provide us with your support as we carry forward in rebuilding our beautiful region.
