The Chezh artisit Alphonse Mucha was a leading figure of Art Nouveau, who achieved acclaim at the end of the 19th century. His works have since been greatly admired in Japan.
Since 1978, when the first retrospective Mucha exhibition was held in Japan, numerous exhibitions have presented his works in chronological order, highlighting the works from his years in Paris. However, this exhibition aims to explore the artistic vision and ideals of the artist, and it is our hope that visitors will be able to gain an insight into the creative process, ambitions and achievements of Mucha through his works. Over 240 artworks including posters, sketches, studies, as well as rare works such as oil paintings and items of jewellery will be exhibited.
